What made you want to work in music?
I started playing the drums at 10 years old and quickly became obsessed with everything to do with music. As a young teenager, I became fully immersed in the culture and ethos around punk music, and soon discovered a similar love for drum and bass in London’s warehouses. I then started playing in bands and going to gigs at all the grassroots venues, and continued to be drawn to the way music brings people together. I wanted to be part of an industry that provides such a vital voice for individuals, that helps to create community and unity, and ultimately, make my biggest passion my career.
What’s your favourite album of all time?
I’ve got to go with The Clash’s self-titled debut album. I had it playing on repeat for a solid two years, relating every lyric to my dislike of school at the time. Besides that, it was the album that really opened my eyes to the importance of authenticity and being true to yourself, both in music and life more broadly.
What’s one piece of tech you couldn’t live without?
Definitely my electric drumkit. I live with my band and we have a full set up in our living room which makes rehearsing a whole lot easier. Not sure the neighbours would be too happy if I had an acoustic kit!
