Cherry Red Signs Classic Catalogue, New Albums and Artists
- New deals include essential Rick Wakeman catalogue- New collaborative album from Peter Hammill and Gary Lucas- The Fall re-sign for EP and new album- Jack Bruce signs for new album following catalogue releases- The Woodentops join rosterFriday 13th December 2013, London:-Cherry Red has signed a major catalogue agreement with Rick Wakeman, covering 18 albums from his solo career. The label has also re-signed Mark E. Smith’s The Fall for an EP and LP, as well as signing Jack Bruce for a new studio album and a brand new collaboration from Peter Hammill (Van Der Graaf Generator) and Gary Lucas (Captain Beefheart).Well known as the former keyboard player from prog-rock titans Yes, Rick Wakeman has also produced over 100 solo albums that have collectively sold more than 50 million copies. Cherry Red has secured 18 titles from this legacy for reissue from early 2014, including ‘Out of the Blue’ and ‘Out There’ (live albums with the English Rock Ensemble), ‘White Rock II’ and ‘Softsword’.The label is also to release a new collaborative album from singer-songwriter Peter Hammill (Van Der Graaf Generator) and Grammy-nominated songwriter, soundtrack composer and guitarist Gary Lucas, former co-manager and touring partner of Captain Beefheart. ‘Otherworld’ will be available on February 3rd 2014 through the Esoteric Antenna label.In addition, Cherry Red has re-signed English post-punk act The Fall, firstly for their new mini-album ‘The Remainderer’, released 9th December to be followed by a full length album in 2014. These will be their sixth and seventh releases with the label.Having previously only dealt with his catalogue material, Cherry Red has also signed former Cream bassist Jack Bruce for his upcoming new studio album. This is to be released in March 2014 under the Esoteric Antenna imprint.Joining the roster for the first time, Cherry Red has signed eclectic-rock group The Woodentops. Active since 1983, the group’s early material saw them considered as one of the most exciting independent groups in theUK.
