What made you want to work in music?
Like many in this industry, my motivation came from a passion for playing, writing, and experiencing music, and a burning desire to turn that into a career. Growing up, I found my identity in the music of my parents, as well as the best (and worst) albums of my adolescence. Reading about those larger-than-life figures in books, blogs, and magazines, I wanted to be a part of the industry — to see what made the events, moments, and albums I loved, really happen. That, and get a few free gig tickets.
What’s your favourite album of all time?
A question that I can’t honestly answer, and the truth probably wouldn’t be that exciting. In sheer hours, and consistency, it may well be Talking Heads’ Speaking In Tongues, an album that constantly reveals new things and can be played in nearly any setting (by me). Recent favourites include Nourished By Time’s Erotic Probiotic 2, Magdalena Bay’s Imaginal Disk, and Oklou’s Choke Enough.
What’s one piece of tech you couldn’t live without?
The truest answer would sadly be my phone: it puts a world of music at my fingertips, helps me navigate London, book restaurants and gig tickets, and tricks me into spending more hours than I’d like a day scrolling. A more romantic answer may be my guitar, in tandem with effects pedals that expand what is sonically capable from passive electronics within a piece of wood. But, yeah: probably my phone!
