PR & Communications Intern

Location: Hybrid working, some days in East London Office

Contract: Fixed-term (approx. 8 weeks from August to September)

Start Date: Early August 

Availability: Three full days per week. Must be available on Tuesday 23rd September for the Independent Music Awards (afternoon and evening)

Compensation: National living wage

About the Role:

Name PR is one of the UK’s leading music PR agencies, with 25 years of experience working with clients across all areas of the industry, from artist services companies, record labels and music trade associations to artists and festivals. Past and present clients include the Independent Music Awards, Ninja Tune, Jean-Michel Jarre, 51st Festival, Sony Music’s 4th Floor Creative, and many more.

We’re looking for a motivated, organised and proactive intern to join our team three days a week to support PR and communications activity for clients, including the Independent Music Awards 2025.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone keen to build hands-on experience in music PR, communications and events. You’ll be an integral part of a small and dynamic team working on one of the most exciting celebrations of independent music in the UK, as well as gaining experience on our wider roster of industry-facing campaigns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out research and admin tasks

  • Supporting with media outreach

  • Drafting emails and socials copy

  • Helping with event planning and preparation

  • On-the-day support at Independent Music Awards (23rd September)

Who We’re Looking For:

Essential

  • Strong writing and communication skills – ideally from a degree subject involving writing, critical thinking or communications

  • Keen interest in current music and music media

  • Highly organised, detail-oriented and proactive

  • Familiar with social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, X/Twitter, Facebook)

**Please note, you will need to be entitled to carry out self-employed work in the UK, as you will be hired on a freelance basis. Unfortunately this does not apply to those on Student or Tier 4 Visas.**

Bonus (but not essential):

  • Experience writing blogs, press releases, or producing creative content

  • Previous experience in PR, marketing, or events (could be through university, freelance or work experience)
