Château Flight and Prosumer Join Prins Thomas For Ekstravaganza #4

Following on from last month’s launch party for Prins Thomas’ critically acclaimed self-titled debut album, Corsica Studios and Full Pupp come together once more to transform this small corner of South East London into a disco paradise.

With everyone from the NME and Timeout already hailing his eponymous debut as one of the best albums of 2010, Thomas returns triumphant to Elephant & Castle to spin one of his world famous body-moving sets of cosmic disco and Balearic beats.

Ekstravaganza 4 see’s Thomas joined by fellow Full Pupp artist and DJ, Blackbelt Andersen and, playing a rare live set, Parisian duo Château Flight whose blend of dark disco, house and techno has propelled them into the premier league of French house producers.

Clubbers who pray in the direction of Berlin meanwhile will want to make a beeline for room 2 where Achim Brandenburg aka Prosumer will be playing a 4 hour set. Since his debut on Swayzak’s 240 Volt label in 2004, Achim has been one of Germany’s best DJ/producers with releases on labels like Playhouse, collaborations with Murat Tepeli and Sebo K, and his residency at the legendary Panorama Bar in Berlin.

Joining Achim in steaming up the back room will be London DJ trio, TOTHEBONE, who have been showcasing the best in house and techno at their own parties and nights such as Secret Sundaze and Sud Electronic since 2004.

Prins Thomas and Lindstrøm Join Forces For Disco Ekstravaganza

When cosmic disco wizard Prins Thomas announced his new bi-monthly residency at Corsica Studios, we were hoping that at some point he would convince frequent studio partner Lindstrøm to join him on the Air Norway Express.

Still we didn’t expect it to be this soon, but here we are with Ekstravaganza #2 and Thomas has put together an early Christmas present for London ’s ever growing disco community in the shape of one of the best line-ups you’re likely to see all year.

Playing together for the first time in London for several years Thomas will be joined by the aforementioned Hans-Peter Lindstrøm who will be performing an absolutely unmissable live set. One of the most pivotal figures in recent dance history, Lindstrøm has been at the forefront of the recent cosmic disco renaissance with tracks such as I Feel Space and the astonishing 30 minute long Where You Go I Go Too taking the dancefloor to new heights of blissfull abandon. We can barely contain ourselves at what delights he holds in store for us.

Completing the Scando-Disco connection is long time Full Pupp producer and resident DJ for the label’s Oslo nights, Magnus International. Alongside Thomas he will be digging deep into his collection to bring the finest music from the frozen north.

If the main room is soundtracked by the more ethereal excesses of disco, room 2 will represent the genres more earthly delights. Joining the dots between the bath house and the warehouse and channelling the spirit of disco’s decadent pioneers will be the all conquering Horse Meat Disco, Black Cock’s Gerry Rooney and the evergreen Warm Residents. Do not be mistaken this will be a sweaty, unadulterated bearpit of fun.

Super Furry Animals Host Psychedelic Warehouse Party

After the sell-out success of the last SFA after party following their Roundhouse shows in Nov 2007, the Furries are returning to Corsica Studios to throw another all night warehouse bash. Straight after their Somerset House show on July 18th they’ll be hot-footing it over the river with a host of their favourite DJs in tow – except the music this time will involve a very different type of acid…..

After the all-out techno onslaught of their last event with sets from Andrew Weatherall and Evil Eddie Richards, this time they’re taking a trip back to explore their deep-fried acid-folk origins.

Expect wild and wonderful DJ sets from SFA members Gruff Rhys and Guto Pryce themselves, buckets of psychedelic freak beat fuzzy madness from special guests Cherrystones (Whatever We Want, Poptones), Andy Votel (Twisted Nerve, B Music, Finders Keepers), Pete Fowler (Monsterism) and fellow patriot Huw Evans.

Next door there’s a whole other room of mutant techno from Cian Ciaran’s Acid Casuals plus a slick mixture of kraut-rock, cosmic disco and techno grooves from Allez Allez, Jagz Kooner (Sabres of Paradise), Copious Breaks & Tomahawk (Psychemagik) and the Kosmische Club DJs.

Add to the mix a selection of mind-bending visuals, B-Movie trailers, kaleidescopic light-shows and – believe it or not – a Kool-Aid bar – and you’d be forgiven for thinking that this was some Merry Pranksters’ gathering in Haight Ashbury at the tail-end of the sixties not 21st Century Elephant & Castle.
