The Week That Was- week notes from the 20th August 2010
We are also proud to be once again publishing our Name monthly playlist, although it is no longer monthly. The decision to change it from monthly to fortnightly has come firmly from the top and therefore must remain unchallenged. So, every two weeks now you can all have your weekends (and following weeks) invigorated with specifically themed and collectively eclectic Name tastes. This week is ‘Cover to cover’ for which we chose a dozen of our favourite covers, from the humorous to the inspirational it should be an entertaining listen. I’m sure some listeners will have some distinguished picks that aren’t included, post it on our Facebook page and if we may just add it on.
After putting in a request for some project based work Hugo has managed to position himself directly under a veritable literary avalanche. Entrusted with three press releases plus his usual sheaf of tasks that normally keep him fully occupied he’s convinced himself that he’ll emerge from the wreckage a better writer and PR man if nothing else.
Following John’s enjoyable weekend spent watching friends walk up the aisle, it was back to earth with a bump on Tuesday with another overflowing inbox. Still it’s been a good week, Audience ran a feature of live music PRs which gave him a good few mentions, always a nice boost for the ego, and now he’s working on what he personally thinks are 4 of the best clubnights coming up in London over the next couple of months which is always a joy. Anyway one more week to go and then I’m off to Croatia for ten days of fun in the sun checking out the Outlook and Stop Making Sense festivals.
Nat’s week has been consumed by Outlook Festival – trying to schedule meetings for 2011 sponsorship, and subsequently also having to update all brochures and handout information. Besides that it’s making sure everything is tidied up for our new member of staff and trying not to appear too excited going into her final week at Name.
Dave spent a little too long getting strangely excited by the unexplored world of Filemaker plug-ins, and was pleased to be advised by a client on the advantages of Crocs over his precarious open-toed sandals (a broken toe waiting to happen apparently). Fortunately there hasn’t been too much heavy lifting this week.
A mystery knee incident left Mr Shemtob out of the office from Tuesday on and in his place came a character from a Victor Hugo novel. When not tending to church towers this character hobbled from fridge to desk, delegated and successfully summed up the entire plight of a people to one person suggesting “why don’t we get in that guy who did those paintings on the walls in Ireland to paint our wall”
Right, it sounds like the friday beers are being cracked open. If I’m not fast I’ll once again be tricked into getting a the Champaign bottle…filled with water.
May you all stay dry in the week ahead, maybe we should invest in some Name PR company umbrellas.
The Name Team
